Motorcycle Accident Season in Full Swing
Finding a Motorcycle Lawyer Takes WorkOnce again we are in the heat of riding season, which also means that motorcycle accident season is in full swing. Every year, in addition to the cases I handle in California, I help riders all across the country to find attorneys that are motorcycle savvy and will do a good job for this injured riders. It isn’t easy, even for me. I shudder to think about what happens to injured riders who have no real way to evaluate the attorneys they find on the internet and in the phone book. Last year I referred a wrongful death case to a very good lawyer in another state. Initially, everything seemed to be going beautifully. Then, the case seemed to be dragging. I was having trouble getting information. I became concerned, because I am very proud of the help I give riders in finding attorneys to help with their accidents. It turned out that the attorney had a couple of associates in the firm working on the case. Everything was ultimately fine, but it did need some review from the attorney I referred the case to originally. Even though it was still in the same office, it wasn’t really the same thing. I was quite satisfied that, after discussion, the attorney was taking care of business, and I expect a nice solid settlement in the next few months. I wish I could simply write up a "cookbook" recipe for finding an attorney to handle a motorcycle accident for an injured rider, but it just isn’t that easy. There are too many variables. Things change. One lawyer may know how to refer a client for an advanced medical test. Another may not have ever heard of the test. Some lawyers know how to find great motorcycle accident experts. Others try to get by with a general accident reconstruction expert. Some know about specialty experts in human factors or even fatigue.
Maybe it doesn’t matter. As long as I am available to help riders find good lawyers, I will try to keep doing it.
