Beware of the Wannabe "Motorcycle Lawyer"
Web Marketing of “Motorcycle Lawyers” Out of Control Being a lawyer is a profession. A profession is different than a business. Lawyers have a primary goal of helping people if they can. Businesses have a primary goal of making money. The internet can be a great thing, because it can make so much information so readily available. Unfortunately, as always, there are plenty of opportunities to game the system.
I think I am sufficiently recognized as a motorcycle attorney, that I can safely say I am appalled at many of the attorneys who suddenly are holding themselves out as motorcycle attorneys. After ignoring riders for years, they are reacting to competitions in their field by suddenly adding "Motorcycle" to their resumes. Of course, it is easy to pay for a web site, and equally simple to promote it. But these are people who don’t even ride, and couldn’t care less about those of us who do. A good portion of my practice is trying to straighten out the messes that these lawyers leave behind. If you find that your case is just sitting there, nothing is being done to move it forward, and your calls aren’t getting returned, you need to look at what’s going on. Anyone can get busy, but many of these firms are simply mills that take in the cases, and wait until the insurance company gets around to making an offer. Sorry to vent, but I work hard at what I do, and I care about the riders I help. It ticks me off to see these lawyers mocking what real motorcycle attorneys do for a living.
