Alhambra Off Duty Police Officer Critically Injured in 605 Freeway Motorcycle Crash
July 1, 2010-According to reports, a California police officer was critically injured in a 605 Freeway motorcycle crash in the Whittier area. The motorcycle crash took place on the northbound lanes of the San Gabriel River Freeway in the vicinity of Whittier Boulevard in a collision with a big-rig. According to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Matt Levesque the officer was unconscious after the motorcycle crash. The off duty police Alhambra was transported to the County-USC Medical Center. California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos stated both sides of the freeway were closed at 8:30 a.m. in order for the Los Angeles County Fire Department to land, which airlifted the injured motorcycle rider to the hospital. Lt. Ron Andreas of the Alhambra Police Department confirmed the motorcycle rider was an off duty police officer.
